14 February 2008. It was twenty years ago today. In February of 1988 I was in college and single. Since I had no one special to share Valentine's Day with, I decided to give an anonymous long-stemmed red rose to each of my close female friends. I smuggled the flowers into the dorm and taped them to the appropriate doors in the small hours of the night. This was the logo I designed for the card that accompanied each rose. I was inspired by the typography of Roger Dean, as I am to this day: ![]() I also worked the core of the logo into a T-shirt which I painted and wore on that day. It seemed like a nice, subtle way to spill the secret: ![]() I scanned in the T-shirt in two passes, digitally aligned the halves together, and did a major amount of cleaning (with Gimp and the Wacom tablet) to remove the cracks and flaking in the paint.
